Some love stories take the long way around—circling back home exactly where they’re meant to be. Brooke and Christian’s wedding at the Waterfront Venue at the Narrows Marina this August was a celebration of ten years of love, two children, deep family roots in Lakewood, and a future firmly grounded in home.
With sweeping views of the Narrows and Commencement Bay, soft sage, blush, and white details, and an atmosphere that felt both intimate and joyful, their wedding day was a perfect reflection of who they are together: genuine, family-centered, and full of heart.

A Love Story That Started With a Meme
In Brooke’s words, their story began in an unexpected—and very modern—way. Though both grew up in Lakewood, Washington, living just ten minutes apart, they never crossed paths until college. While attending Washington State University, Christian reached out to Brooke in 2014 with a meme on Twitter. She laughed, replied, and invited him to her dorm.
They met in a parking lot, grabbed burgers and fries at Flix Café, and what Brooke thought would be a one-night date quietly turned into something much more. Ten years later, they’re parents to Kinsley and Isaiah and have found their way back to their hometown—now as a family of four.

The Proposal: A Birthday Surprise on the Water
Christian’s proposal was thoughtful, romantic, and perfectly planned. During Brooke’s birthday week, he suggested a family dinner at Copper & Salt at the Silver Cloud Hotel in Ruston. Framing it as a casual hotel tour for a future work conference, he led Brooke and the kids inside—where everything changed.
Behind one hotel door waited large “Marry Me” letters, white roses scattered across the floor, white balloons floating near the ceiling, and a breathtaking waterfront view of Commencement Bay. Family and close friends were there to witness the moment, making the surprise even more meaningful. Afterward, everyone celebrated together downstairs with dinner and drinks—a night they’ll never forget.

The Wedding Day at the Narrows Marina
Set against the water at the Waterfront Venue at the Narrows Marina, Brooke and Christian’s ceremony felt serene and emotional.
The wedding party entered to “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Haley Reinhart, setting a romantic tone from the very beginning. Brooke’s entrance to “I See the Light” by Taylor Davis was a standout moment—soft, emotional, and full of anticipation. Following the ceremony, the couple recessed to “Perfect Day,” a joyful close to their vows.
Pastor Penton officiated the ceremony, guiding them through heartfelt vows surrounded by family, friends, and the calming presence of the water.

A Reception Filled With Family, Music & Meaning
One of the most personal touches of the day came during the reception—Brooke’s dad, David, just happens to be a Pro DJ, and did an incredible job keeping the energy flowing and the dance floor full.
Special dances included:
Father–Daughter Dance: “Give Me Away” by Riley Roth
Mother–Son Dance: “A Song for Mama” by Boyz II Men
Speeches were given by:
Brittany, Maid of Honor (and Brooke’s sister)
Karissa, Matron of Honor
Melissa, Bridesmaid
Tyler, Best Man
Alex, Groomsman
Justin, Groomsman
Ray, Groomsman
Each toast added laughter, tears, and stories that reflected the depth of Brooke and Christian’s relationships and the community that surrounds them.

Thoughtful Planning & Cinematic Storytelling
The day flowed beautifully thanks to Tricia with Weddings Realized, who coordinated every detail with care and intention. I also had the pleasure of working alongside a videography team I confidently recommend: Doll Wedding Films, led by Marcus Doll and Stella Doll, capturing the day in motion with artistry and heart.
A Wedding Rooted in Real Love
Brooke and Christian’s wedding wasn’t about extravagance—it was about real love, shared history, and the family they’ve built together. From a meme-filled college beginning to a waterfront celebration surrounded by their children, their story is a reminder that the most meaningful weddings are the ones that feel true.
If you’re planning a Tacoma or Seattle waterfront wedding, or searching for a photographer who values authentic storytelling, emotional moments, and genuine connection, this is the kind of love I’m honored to document.
